The challenge
BWP Construction takes on new builds, extensions, repairs and renovations across Sussex. It wanted homeowners to get in touch about real projects, by phone, WhatsApp or email, rather than clicks from people only comparing prices.
What we did
The campaign launched on Google Search on 27 February 2026. From the first weeks the team cut hundreds of searches that wouldn’t lead to work: price-only enquiries, competitors’ names and DIY or informational searches. Ads were scheduled from 6am to midnight, and images were matched to each ad group.
Website tracking went live on 8 April, so calls, WhatsApp messages and emails could be counted. In mid-May, with enough data gathered, bidding switched to maximise conversions, then focused only on direct contact. A link to the Google Business Profile was tested and removed when it lowered the click rate.
In June a Performance Max campaign, funded by a Google advertising voucher, extended the ads beyond Search, and the campaign ran into early July to use the remaining budget.
The result
From 27 February to early July 2026 the campaign cost £1,310 including our fee, and drew 744 clicks from 9,582 impressions, a 7.8% click rate. From 8 April it brought 32 direct contacts: 15 calls, 11 WhatsApp messages and 6 emails. Contacts came most often from mid-May, after the bidding change.
By Carmine’s own count, those enquiries became 18 leads worth around £70,000 to £80,000 between them, which he is quoting and tendering for.
