What it means for your advertising
A click is the moment someone moves from seeing your ad to visiting your website, the first sign of real interest. If an ad has more than one clickable part, any of them counts, and clicking the same ad twice in quick succession usually counts once.
Platforms filter out clicks they judge invalid, such as accidental taps or automated software, and don't charge for them. A click still counts if your website fails to load, one reason to keep your landing page fast and reliable.
An example
240 people clicked Java Roasters' ad and landed on its office coffee page. At £1.25 a click, those visits cost £300.
Java Roasters is a fictional business, and its figures are illustrative.
How we handle it
Clicks sit next to impressions in your Performance Hub, split by device, so you can see whether people find you on a phone or a computer. We judge clicks by what happens after them: fewer clicks and more enquiries is a better campaign. More on Google Search advertising.
