What it means for your advertising
It's one of two ways to set an audience in the Guru. The other, Category Interest, lets you pick from a list of audience groups, such as Food and the groups inside it. If you're not sure which to use, a described audience is the one we suggest.
Write a sentence or two about who buys from you, or start from one of the suggested examples, then choose Generate Profile. The profile shows age ranges, gender and parental status, plus affinity and in-market segments. Hover over the information icon beside a segment to see why the AI chose it, and add, remove or change anything.
You can create up to five profiles per campaign, which helps when you sell to different kinds of customer. Each becomes part of your audience targeting.
An example
Java Roasters writes two. One describes office managers at small companies who want good coffee for their team; the other, people who make coffee at home and care where it comes from. Each gets its own profile, so the office segments don't blur into the home ones.
Java Roasters is a fictional business, and its figures are illustrative.
How we handle it
We check your profiles when we plan the campaign and carry them onto each channel. Google Search gets their in-market and affinity segments automatically, we write ChatGPT's conversation contexts from them, and our team sets them up on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. How it works walks through the rest of building a campaign.
