What it means for your advertising
A search is a few words. A conversation usually explains the problem, who it's for and what matters. That fuller picture is the context (AI chat) an assistant answers from, and the situation inside it decides which ads are relevant.
For a ChatGPT campaign, your customers' situations are written as short phrases, such as “choosing coffee for a new café”. Your cards can then appear beside conversations about those situations, whatever words the person used.
It's how audience targeting works on ChatGPT: the situations are drafted from the audience profiles you build in the Guru. ChatGPT ads run UK-wide, so the situation does the targeting that location does elsewhere.
An example
Java Roasters' campaign covers situations such as choosing coffee for a new café, keeping an office team in good coffee and buying a gift for a coffee lover. A question about a birthday present for a dad who loves coffee matches the last one, though it never says “gift”.
Java Roasters is a fictional business, and its figures are illustrative.
How we handle it
The situations are drafted from your audience profiles and campaign plan, grouped by service, and we add or retire them as we learn which conversations lead to a click. You'll see them listed under each service in the Guru. More on ChatGPT advertising.
