What it means for your advertising
In ChatGPT, an ad appears as a sponsored card next to an answer, labelled Sponsored. OpenAI says ads don't change what ChatGPT answers.
Ads are matched to the situation the person describes rather than to keywords (see conversation context). Someone asking for help has usually explained a lot about what they need, so a well-matched card can read as a useful suggestion.
It's a new channel. ChatGPT ads run across the whole UK with no town or region targeting yet, and benchmarks for cost and results are still forming.
An example
Someone asks ChatGPT where to buy freshly roasted beans for their cafetière. The answer explains what to look for, and Java Roasters' card appears beside it: “Beans roasted to order, weekly”.
Java Roasters is a fictional business, and its figures are illustrative.
How we handle it
We plan, build and manage ChatGPT campaigns for you: we write the cards, describe the situations your customers are in and retire what doesn't earn clicks. Campaigns start from £20 a day, and our ChatGPT advertising page has the detail.
